Regional Controller

Are you an accounting professional looking to help drive strategy for a strong and steadily growing startup company? Our client, a key player in the logistics and transportation space, is looking to hire a Regional Controller in their Bakersfield, CA office.

Regional Controller Responsibilities:

• Supervises employees and processes related to billing, collections, procurement, accounts payable, fleet management, Revenue recognition and internal controls.
• Daily Paperwork review to ensure invoices match TOPs, pricing accuracy, & commission accuracy. Auditing calls to ensure all pricing is correct for both accounts and non-accounts. Working closely with the General Manager on corrective actions for continued discrepancies.
• Assists with the annual financial statement, workers compensation and insurance audit.
• Supports management at the operating company level with timely data, resources and feedback.
• Ensures accounting team is appropriately cross trained.
• Helps develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for AP, AR and revenue recognition.
• Prepares, assists, or directs preparation of business activity reports, forecasts, annual budgets, and/or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Analyzes the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed and recommends benchmarks for measuring performance of departments, branches, regions, etc.
• Ensures policies and procedures are compliant with GAAP, professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements.
• Perform all other responsibilities as may be assigned by management.

Regional Controller Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional experience within Accounting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal control procedures.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
• Self starting, capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (Sage Intacct experience a plus).

This role will be fully onsite in the Bakersfield, CA office with a base salary range of $135-160K.
