Data Governance Specialist
Job Description and Duties

CalPERS' Health Policy & Data Division is seeking an Information Technology Specialist I or II to serve as a data governance specialist for the Health Care Decision Support System (HCDSS), a data warehouse containing over a billion records of critical health program information. This role leads data governance efforts and oversight of the data warehouse contractor ensuring data quality, data integrity, and alignment with CalPERS data strategy. - Please describe your experience and/or knowledge of data governance principles and oversight of data warehouse operations as it relates to health care.
Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Knowledge of or experience with data governance and data management principles
- Knowledge of or experience with data warehouse operations and vendor oversight
- Knowledge of or experience with data software languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) in a big data analytics platform such as Azure Databricks
- Knowledge of or experience with healthcare data including claims, encounters, pharmacy, provider, lab, disease management, biometric, capitation, payment, risk, rebate, demographic, enrollment, and population health management data
- Knowledge of or experience with health care systems, health insurance, and health plans
