Internship, Software Engineer, AI Data Infrastructure (Fall 2026)
Consider before submitting an application: This position is expected to start August or September 2026 and continue through fall term (ending approximately December 2026) or continuing into Winter/Spring 2027 if available and there is an opportunity to do so. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships. International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year. About the Team: Tesla’s Autonomy Telemetry team is charged with collecting and processing the data that fuels the development of Full-Self-Driving (FSD) and our Humanoid robot. Every car and robot includes a sophisticated sensor suite and internet connectivity. This allows us to gather data from our fleet of millions of vehicles around the world to feed the training of our Neural Networks, providing Tesla with a significant competitive advantage in the race to full autonomy. The Telemetry team is responsible for the full lifecycle of this data: from specifying interesting events for data collection, to efficiently recording as much relevant data as possible on our embedded autopilot computer, to processing the data in the cloud. What You'll Do Influence architectural decisions with a focus on security, scalability, reliability, and high performance, contributing to the enhancement of our data processing infrastructureChoose technologies that will allow us to scale with our growing fleet of vehicles while efficiently utilizing cloud infrastructure and managing costsCollaborate closely with the other Autonomy teams to design and implement backend components required for future Autonomy features and processesSetup monitoring, metrics & reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting, from car to cloudAuthor bullet-proof automated tests that will allow us to continue to merge and deploy with confidence What You'll Bring Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field of study with a graduation date between December 2026 - December 2027Must be able to relocate and work on site in Palo Alto, CAPractical experience using application layer languages like C++, Go, Python, Scala, JavaExperience with Linux, networking, storage, and virtualization automation with tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or similarExperience with databases and search indexes like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Redis Benefits
