Culinary Experience Manager
About Marine Beach
Marina Beach — opening this winter in San Francisco’s Marina District — was founded to fill a gap in the Bay Area dining scene — a place for South Asian food that’s both thoughtful and approachable. The concept bridges the space between fine dining and fast casual, pairing vibrant, heritage-driven dishes with natural wines in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
The restaurant’s roots trace back to years spent in kitchens across the country and to inspiration drawn from Parisian chef residencies — where collaboration, creativity, and community are at the core.
Named after Marina Beach in India, the restaurant pays homage to the founder’s family roots. Today, it stands as a small, open-kitchen wine bar by the water, celebrating craftsmanship, culture, and shared experiences.
Why Work With Us
We’re not here to do business as usual. If you believe hospitality is an art form — part precision, part soul, part storytelling — this might just be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. At Marina Beach, we’re reimagining what food and wine can represent — creating a place where culture, community, and connection meet.
Our space is alive with bold new flavors and fresh hospitality energy. We’re grounded by our biodynamic farm, which connects our food and our team to the rhythm of the earth. And we break through wine-world barriers — celebrating low-intervention bottles, small producers, and the joy of discovery over pretension.
Position Overview
This isn’t your typical back-of-house leadership role. It’s an opportunity to build something that matters — a culinary culture where creativity, collaboration, and care live side by side.
As Culinary Experience Manager, you’ll ensure the kitchen runs with rhythm for our five-person team, while holding space for artistry and innovation. You’ll be both the guardian of consistency and the catalyst for fresh ideas — helping transform our kitchen into a place of discovery.
You’ll bring together three essential threads:
- Founder-Led Menu – Nurture and evolve a menu rooted in South Asian heritage and personal storytelling, balancing tradition with modern flair.
- Culture of Care – Lead a kitchen where quality, cleanliness, and organization reflect hospitality itself—not just boxes to check.
- Culture of Collaboration – Partner closely with our Wine & Hospitality Manager to align service, storytelling, and the rhythm of the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Owner to shape and evolve an inspiring, seasonal menu that reflects Marina Beach’s creative identity.
- Develop original recipes that celebrate flavor, storytelling, and innovation.
- Partner with the Wine & Hospitality Manager to ensure seamless alignment between kitchen, service, and guest experience.
- Lead and mentor a small, cross-functional kitchen team with empathy and clear communication.
- Source, order, and receive the highest-quality, sustainable ingredients that align with our values.
- Train team members on recipes, techniques, and kitchen systems to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations — from prep to plate — ensuring quality, timing, and presentation.
- Manage inventory, stock rotation, sanitation, and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with vendors and farmers to maintain integrity and transparency in sourcing.
- Ensure full compliance with local and state Department of Health regulations for food handling and storage.
Who You Are
- 3+ years of culinary leadership experience
- Skilled in high-volume kitchen operations and team management
- Deep respect for ingredients, sustainability, and seasonality
- Calm under pressure, adaptable in dynamic environments
- A creative thinker who sees food as both craft and story
- (Bonus) Passionate about natural wine and cross-disciplinary collaboration
- (Double Bonus): Aspiring to one day open your own restaurant
Why You’ll Love It Here
- Mission-driven, values-forward culture
- Monthly leadership training to strengthen your craft and consciousness
- Monthly 1:1 professional coaching with a Berkeley Certified Coach
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Paid sick time and generous paid time off
- Staff discount on wines
- Holidays off to rest and recharge
- Monthly team outings and field trips to our biodynamic farm
- Monthly wellness stipend
- Referral bonuses for helping us grow our team
As We Grow, You Grow

Joining us now means becoming part of the founding team — shaping not just a restaurant, but a movement redefining what hospitality can be.
