Dental Hygienist

We re seeking licensed and experienced Dental Hygienists to deliver high-quality, preventive, and therapeutic dental care services across multiple sites within the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) under a long-term federal healthcare staffing contract. • Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center (North Hills, CA)

• Bakersfield CBOC

• Santa Maria CBOC

• Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Center

• Ventura Mariner Outpatient Clinic

PRN / As-Needed, On-Site
Monday to Friday (based on VA needs)

Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Estimated Annual Hours: 6,240 (total for all Dental Hygienist positions)

5-Year Contract Duration: November 20, 2025 November 19, 2030

• Provide comprehensive dental hygiene services including routine and advanced prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and fluoride application

• Conduct full periodontal assessments, charting, and risk analysis

• Examine oral tissues and teeth for signs of disease and abnormalities such as caries, gingivitis, and oral cancer

• Interpret radiographs (bitewing, panoramic, periapical) to assist in treatment planning

• Instruct patients on oral hygiene techniques, dietary counseling, and tobacco cessation

• Collaborate with dentists and periodontists for the care of patients with complex oral health conditions

• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms following VA infection control protocols and OSHA standards

• Input treatment data accurately into CPRS and Dental Record Manager Plus (DRM+) systems

• Assist in maintaining recall systems and preventive care follow-up programs

• Provide care and education to patients with specialized needs (e.g., oncology, dialysis, behavioral health)

• Associate Degree or higher from a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene Program

• Active and unrestricted Dental Hygienist license issued by the State of California

• Certification in radiologic procedures (fulfilled via accredited program per 42 CFR Part 75)

• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification

• Minimum of 1 year recent experience as a Dental Hygienist

• Familiarity with VA systems ( CPRS, DRM+) preferred

• Prior experience in federal, military, or veteran-focused healthcare settings strongly preferred

• Must be a U.S. Citizen (federal requirement)

• No record of OIG exclusions

• California Dental Hygienist License

• AHA BLS Card

• Certification in Radiologic Procedures (education transcript or state documentation)

• OIG Exclusion Search Result (online lookup accepted)
