Product Compliance Analyst
With general supervision, the Product Compliance Analyst works with external compliance companies to ensure the lifecycle assessments of the design and/or materials used in development of Thales products, maintain environmental regulatory compliance by globally improving environmental performances on the full life cycle of the products/projects through eco-design deployment among others, and taking into account Thales HSE strategies, policies and objectives.
Product Compliance Analyst will work with internal and external groups to achieve and maintain material and environmental compliance through cross-collaboration with the different functional teams both internal and external. This position will be responsible for staying abreast as well as partner with Regulatory Affairs to ensure new/updated standards and regulations are assessed and incorporated.
Supports at IFE level for HSE Product topics (various products with HSE domain complexity). The Product Compliance Analyst works with transversal employees from a wide scope of competencies: Product Policy, Engineering, Industry, Bids & Projects, Quality, Procurement, Support, Service, Quality, HSE Operations
Product Compliance Analyst provides interpretation on technical questions of financial and regulatory compliance with applicable Country, state and federal statutes and regulations.
Along the full life cycle of the Product & Project (wide range and quantity of products and systems complex), work with all competencies implicated (Engineering, Industry, Bids & Projects, Quality, Procurement & Product policy, Support and services), the Product Analyst:
Conduct lifecycle assessments of the products, services or processes to identify areas of improvement.
Collect data on the entire lifecycle of a product, from raw material extraction to disposal.
Analyze and interpret data using specialist software.
Prepare detailed reports on lifecycle assessments and present findings to clients or stakeholders.
Use lifecycle assessment results to inform decision making processes and drive sustainability initiatives.
Work with product designers, engineers and managers to implement changes that reduce environmental impacts.
Ensures regulatory compliance of products (e.g.: hazardous substances, eco-design, energy, dismantling and end of life management ) with high HSE stakes for the product
Collaborate with technologists or external companies as needed to define substitution work to perform when needed
Ensure relevant HSE information are available to all functions working on product, bid/project or service, including regulatory HSE topics and eco-design
Coordinate with external companies to ensure material compliance with relevant global product and packaging regulatory and environmental legislations and directives (e.g., REACH Regulation, WEEE Directive, RoHS Directive, California Prop 65, Conflict Minerals, Batteries Directive) for Thales product portfolios
Coordinate and review applicable production BOMs as needed to identify restricted substances in Thales products with external companies.
Ensure components, packaging, and product information are accurately tracked in the appropriate databases
Coordinate with external companies on preparation and issuance of product related compliance (REACH, ROHS, etc.) declaration forms as required by specific country regulations and/or customer requests
Work with groups or teams to assist in the develop of compliance processes, including existing and new tools as needed that support the compliance process, where applicable
Actively monitor and review developments in compliance requirements (i.e., new and/or updated requirements that may affect product portfolios) and report periodically on the status of product compliance
Using clear communication, support the cross-functional teams by providing compliance guidance, and communicating compliance progress, decisions, and strategies
Support Regulatory Affairs team with documentation in response to regulatory agencies inquiries, including compliance certifications, declaration conformity, regulatory letters, and technical packages
Coordinate with external companies as needed to ensure supplier information is kept up to date.
Make recommendations to any design changes or material changes and assess their impact on compliance to the above directives
Identify the need, co-build or customize, and deploy relevant trainings when necessary, to all functions working on product, bid/project or service, including regulatory HSE topics and eco-design
Support Product Policy Leader in participating with bids and projects in their relationship with customers for Product HSE topics
Support Product Policy Leader and HSE Manager in interfacing with the customer, to negotiate and discuss requests and ensure compliance, raise any alert when needed
Allocate Product HSE requirements to the supply chain and with procurement, support suppliers in their rise in maturity on the Product HSE topics
Assist other teams, groups or external companies to develop eco-design strategy and drive deployment of related practices and tools,
Ensure Eco-design is implemented in the Design Competence Center of their area of Product
Assist the HSE Manager to coordinate team/network (functionally or hierarchically)
Works closely with the HSE Manager to identify, assess, control and determine applicable risks are identified; raise any alert, when needed
Collect and analyze operational indicators related to product, assess results and suggest improvements, if necessary
Contribute to environmental certification for the Product HSE scope
Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Toxicology, Natural Science, Earth Science or related field with a minimum of 1 to 4+ years of relevant experience or Master s degree in related field with 0-2+ years of relevant work experience or Associates degree with 3-5+ years of related experience.
Material compliance experience managing technical projects or programs a plus.
Working cross-functionally with multiple disciplines is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
With limited supervision, must be able to work ethically, deliver a detailed high quality work product, be results oriented in a fast paced changing environment and handle pressure situations ensuring accuracy, attention to details and consistency in work.
Computer skills to include MS word, excel, access, teams, etc.
Knowledge of working with spreadsheets and tracking, trending and analysis of data
Effectively communicate (clear, concise, accurate) both orally and in writing.
Efficiently work in cross-functional teams and train others
Comprehensively understand complex issues quickly and develop appropriate solutions
Investigate and recommend safer alternative materials and/or processes for product designs.
Collaborate, develop relationships and identify best practices with other departments within the organization and worldwide Thales counterparts
Capture and track data in support of site objectives, targets, programs, compliance and HSE Management reviews.
Aid in activities supportive of Continual Improvement initiatives throughout the HSE program.
Communicate and collaborate with external companies, employees, customers - individual and in teams - to ensure the facility is functioning efficiently and effectively to support the business and program needs and requirements.
Engage and perform the reviews of company projects to the agreed schedule and budget to support business expansion and growth.
Knowledge or experience working with the global/international directives including European Union directives (such as REACH and RoHS) on electronics, packaging, and battery waste, including manufacturer's obligations.
Knowledge of federal and other regulations, especially as related to aircraft electronic communication design and manufacturing, e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, and 14971 is desirable.
Comfortable working in a team collaborative atmosphere with local and international players.
Experience or knowledge working with external test labs to develop test plans, deliver results clearly, and schedule.
The ability to handle multiple projects at the same time while being able to keep each project on track and communicate issues with concise and actionable input is essential.
Familiarity or knowledge with material considerations of electronic products.
Working in an electronic manufacturing or aerospace services environment a plus.
New Product ECO design development including; Materials, packaging, travel costs, etc.
Experience with BOM, REACH, RoHS electronic material declaration forms
Certified Analytics Professional(CAP) and Certified Business Analysis Professional(CBAP)
Familiar with all applicable HSE regulations/requirements
ISO 14001/45001 compliance regulations, knowledge and/or experience
Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is desirable.
