Duties : Under direction of the Manager, Project Support Section, the incumbent performs engineering work on matters relating to electrical and mechanical systems on the State Water Project (SWP) hydroelectric generating and pumping plants. Incumbent manages procurement and installation contracts and leads the execution of the installation, testing, integration, and energization of hydroelectric power generating equipment and its related components. The Project Support Section is a team of experienced engineers providing on-site project support at SWP facilities. Our team helps coordinate project work with DWR operational staff, design engineers, and construction contractors for public works contracts. We support construction site safety and equipment lockout-tagout, quality assurance and control, schedule and budget management, specialized equipment and installation inspection, and start-up and testing of equipment and facilities.

Employee is required to successfully complete all safety training related to the functions of the job. Travel throughout the State will be required.

Work may require operating vehicle on public roadways to travel to remote areas. Involves driving a pickup off road usually on rugged terrain to and from the job sites. This position requires extensive travel to domestic and foreign locations with possible temporary assignment to a project site and/or manufacturing facility during the fabrication or installation phase. Travel on short notice and overnight lodging will be required on some trips.

Under the provisions of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard CIP-004 as part of the Energy Policy of 2005, this position has authorized cyber access to or unescorted physical access around critical cyber assets and is subject to a satisfactory background check prior to appointment and every seven years thereafter
