Senior Accountant

Grover Landscape Services is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the company’s day-to-day accounting operations and take ownership of the full accounting cycle.

This role includes a transition period working directly with our retiring accountant to ensure a thorough handoff of responsibilities and a smooth transition.

You will work closely with three accounting staff members responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll and report directly to company leadership.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who enjoys working in a stable company where they can take ownership of the books and play an important role in the financial health of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the full accounting cycle , including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger and bank accounts
• Prepare monthly financial statements and internal management reports
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close
• Process and review payroll and ensure accurate payroll tax filings
• Coordinate with external CPA for tax preparation and year-end reporting
• Maintain accurate financial records and strong internal accounting controls
• Work closely with AP and AR staff to ensure accurate and timely processing
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and maintain audit-ready records

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–7 years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial statements
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of financial processes
• High level of discretion when handling payroll and financial information

Preferred

• Experience with SAGE 100 accounting system
• Payroll processing experience
• Job costing or project-based accounting
