Maitre D
MAÎTRE D' — LITTLE MOUNTAIN | MONTECITO, CA
Little Mountain is a wood-fired kitchen rooted in Montecito's coastal culture, added to the California Michelin Guide within six months of opening. We collaborate with local farmers, ranchers, and fishermen to source organic and biodynamic ingredients, and we bring the same intentionality to every guest interaction.
We're looking for someone exceptional: warm and precise, quietly confident, and genuinely invested in the art of hospitality. A vital role in any restaurant, we take our guest relations and our first hello, last goodbye at Little Mountain very seriously and the right person will feel that responsibility as a privilege and a joy!
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Welcome every guest with warmth and professionalism, setting the tone for their entire experience from the first moment of arrival
- Own the reservation book nightly — managing table assignments, pacing, and flow to balance guest satisfaction with a healthy, building business
- Build real relationships with regulars and VIPs, tracking preferences and delivering consistently personalized experiences
- Contribute to pre-shift meetings with the service team, covering reservations and guest notes
- Execute special requests seamlessly — dietary needs, seating preferences, private celebrations, milestone moments
- Guide and train the host team in real time, modeling Little Mountain's standards with every interaction
- Stay attuned to the room throughout service — tables resets, guests experiences, team supported
- Handle guest concerns with professionalism and empathy, and know when to escalate to management
WHO YOU ARE
- A polished, personable professional who leads with quiet confidence and genuine warmth
- Highly organized and capable of managing competing priorities without losing composure
- Skilled at reading a room — anticipating needs before they're expressed and responding with precision
- An effective communicator who motivates those around them to hold a high standard
- Someone who understands that great hospitality is built on consistency, memory, and sincere connection
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Maître D' or in a comparable fine dining or luxury hospitality role
- Strong command of reservation platforms such as SevenRooms, Resy, or OpenTable
- Experience in Michelin-recognized, Forbes-rated, or similarly distinguished environments preferred
- Exceptional communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills
BENEFITS
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance above industry standard
- A team that takes the work seriously and each other warmly
- Employee dining privileges
- Access to hospitality, wine, and menu training opportunities
We're building something special at Little Mountain — and we'd love for you to be part of it!
