Associate Director

Brilliant Corners
Los Angeles, CA

Location: Los Angeles

Salary: $100 - $105K/yr

Organization Overview

Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to California’s most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own, and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes. We implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veterans’ services, and health care sectors.

In short, we do good work.

We have offices statewide with a staff of passionate people. While we are growing rapidly, we are also selective: We’re seeking inspired, talented people who want to be part of a team effecting profound change and who have fun doing it.

Department Summary

The Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP) is a supportive housing rental subsidy program of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS), along with other governmental partners, managed-care organizations, and foundations. The goal of the FHSP is to secure quality affordable housing for extremely vulnerable Angelenos. Brilliant Corners, the central coordinating community-based partner for FHSP, works to secure a broad range of housing options, including individual apartments, blocks of units, and entire buildings. Brilliant Corners identifies and secures units Countywide, provides move-in assistance and rental subsidy disbursements, coordinates with case managers, and assists with neighborhood relations.

Position Summary

The Associate Director will lead a multifaceted team that plays a critical role in expanding high-quality housing access and ensuring utilization of vacant unit portfolio. This position directly supervises managers and their three respective interconnected teams: unit acquisition, portfolio utilization and matching, and inspection support across the entire FHSP.

This is a strategic leadership role for someone energized by program design, building and optimizing workflows, and building systems that are nimble and scalable. The Associate Director will shape the vision for the housing team, ensuring strong strategies for vacant unit portfolio sourcing, efficient and effective portfolio utilization, and high quality and participant-centered inspections. They will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Tenancy Supports teams, Program Operations and Data & Technology, to create processes that support housing stability and produce strong outcomes. They will be expected to implement process improvements, refine current practices and shape priorities and strategic planning.

A core responsibility of this role is fostering the use of data to identify gaps, anticipate program needs, and guide continuous improvement while also translating data into compelling narratives that demonstrate impact to funders and build buy-in among internal stakeholders. The Associate Director will work with their teams fostering a strengths‑based, collaborative, and client‑centered team culture that promotes autonomy, accountability and shared ownership of results within the team and in partnership with internal stakeholders. The Associate Director builds cross-functional coordination to help teams anticipate challenges, resolve issues collaboratively, and maintain momentum across initiatives.

They will serve as a thought partner to the FHSP Director and a key member of the FHSP Leadership Team and Housing Services Leadership Team, contributing to program and agencywide priorities that shape the future of housing access within the Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP).
