Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit R20 , and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3percent and will receive 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

This recruitment may be used to fill positions in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting.

Under the general medical supervision of the Respiratory Care Supervisor (RCS), Correctional Facility (CF), the Respiratory Care Practitioner, CF, in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team, assists in the evaluation of pulmonary dysfunction in patients and provides the full range of cardiopulmonary therapeutic and diagnostic modalities. The Respiratory Care Practitioner, CF maintains order and supervises the conduct of the incarcerated and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education : Graduation from an approved respiratory therapy program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care or its predecessor, the Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for candidates new to CCHCS prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.
