Accounting Specialist

Performs a wide range of accounting and clerical functions as assigned. Must represent the agency in a professional manner at all times and demonstrate the following characteristics: work independently, without close supervision, possess analytical skills, be detail oriented and have a conceptual understanding of the agency's accounting structure and make decisions accordingly.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Excellent driving record
• Ability to pass background screening
• Ability to pass drug screening
• Possess a working telephone (this requirement reflects the fact that many positions rely on a timekeeping application to record work hours)
• Reliable transportation
• Bachelor's degree in business with emphasis in accounting plus prior accounting experience. (Extensive accounting experience may be substituted for degree).
• Must possess analytical skills, be detail oriented and have a conceptual understanding of the agency's accounting structure and make decisions accordingly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ability to read, write, and speak English well
• Must be computer literate and have the ability to use different types of software.
• Must possess understanding of accounting procedures and methods.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to balance, climb, bend, stoop, reach, and kneel
• Have use of arms, hands, and fingers
• Lift up to 25 lbs.
• Walk, stand and/or sit for at least eight hours a day
