Sr. Product Manager, Job Seeker AI
We offer a hybrid work environment. Most US-based positions can also be performed remotely (any exceptions will be noted in the Minimum Qualifications below.)
Our Mission:
To actively connect people to their next great opportunity.
Who We Are:
ZipRecruiter is a leading online employment marketplace. Powered by AI-driven smart matching technology, the company actively connects millions of all-sized businesses and job seekers through innovative mobile, web, and email services, as well as through partnerships with the best job boards on the web. ZipRecruiter has the #1 rated job search app on iOS & Android.
Summary:
As a Senior Product Manager for Job Seeker AI, you will be at the absolute center of our marketplace, responsible for creating the "brains" that power our entire matching ecosystem. You will lead the teams that develop our canonical embeddings—the foundational, AI-driven understanding of every job, every resume, and every user interaction with our platform.
Your mission is to transform raw data into actionable intelligence. The assets your team produces will be the engine for every recommendation, every search result, and every insight we provide to job seekers and employers. You will partner with product leaders across the company, treating them as your customers and enabling them to build the next generation of intelligent, explainable, and personalized hiring experiences.
This is a high-leverage role for a product builder who is obsessed with the "why" behind the data and relentlessly focused on translating ML technology into tangible business impact.
Key Focus Areas:
- Own the DNA of our product: You will own the product vision and roadmap for the core embeddings that define jobs, resumes, and user activity across ZipRecruiter.
- Drive End-to-End Impact: Partner with engineering and data science to manage the entire ML product lifecycle, from ideation and data exploration to model development, offline evaluation, and online A/B testing.
- Define "Good": Develop and own a framework of product-centric evaluations to measure model quality and ensure that our AI/ML applications solve real-world user problems effectively and responsibly.
- Be a Product-Building Partner: Work hand-in-hand with PMs on our Job Seeker and Employer teams to understand their needs, co-develop solutions, and deliver the core intelligence they need to win.
- Champion Explainability & Trust: Go beyond black-box models to build products that make matching feel like magic, but can also be explained in simple, human terms to build user trust.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of shipping impactful products.
- Experience working on data-intensive or machine learning-powered products (e.g., search, recommendations, personalization, ads).
- A demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, customer-centric requirements and a compelling product vision.
- A strong technical background and a deep curiosity for AI/ML technology and its practical application.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; you can just as easily debate model metrics with an engineer as you can explain the business value to an executive.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with SQL and basic scripting; comfort with data analysis to inform your product hypotheses.
- Experience in a two-sided marketplace, with an understanding of the dynamics between supply and demand.
- Experience designing rubrics for user-centric model evaluations
- An entrepreneurial mindset; you have a bias for action and an ability to navigate ambiguity to get things done.
As Part of Our Team You’ll Enjoy:
- Competitive salary
- Exceptional benefits package
- Flexible vacation & paid time off
- Employer-matched 401(k) plan
