VP Finance

Our client, a venture capital firm focused on AI-native technologies, is seeking a VP of Finance to lead and scale their financial operations. This is a high-impact role with direct exposure to the General Partners and the opportunity to shape fund strategy, reporting, and compliance.

Location:
San Francisco, CA. This role is hybrid, however, they are open to a remote employee.

Job Description:
This position will work directly with the General Partners, manage or replace their fund administrator, and oversee all firm-level and fund-level finance-ensuring accuracy, insight, and discipline across the board. This is a hands-on, high-trust role ideal for someone who thrives on operating independently in dynamic, high-context environments.

This role will work closely with the Founder and the Partner.

Responsibilities:

• Lead all financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Manage fund administrator relationships and ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Oversee cash flow, capital calls, distributions, and portfolio company data.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, and maintain compliance standards.
• Support investor relations and fundraising efforts with financial materials and analysis.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with investment, legal, and operations teams.
• Contribute to strategic finance initiatives including new fund structures and investment vehicles.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 3+ years in a Controller or senior finance role, ideally in venture capital, private equity, or a similar high-complexity environment.
• Strong understanding of fund structures, financial reporting, compliance, and operations.
• Advanced Excel / financial modeling skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; clear, confident, and LP-ready.
• Ethically grounded with high discretion and a proactive mindset.
• Comfort with ambiguity, fast iteration, and high autonomy.
• Bonus: creativity or experience in structuring venture capital entities or capital strategies.
