Data Analyst
Looking for a detail-oriented Data Analyst with strong technical expertise and investigative abilities to document current data flows across our systems. Responsibilities include mapping data exchanges between applications, distinguishing between required and optional fields, defining data values, and assessing whether integrations operate in batch or real-time.
Utilizing existing architecture diagrams and leveraging your skills in AWS, Redshift, and SQL, you will validate and enrich documentation efforts. This role is focused on analyzing data and system interactions to produce clear, precise, and comprehensive integration documentation, distinct from data architecture or engineering roles.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Review existing architecture diagrams to understand the high-level system and data flow design.
- Document as-is data flows between applications, including:
- Data sources and destinations.
- Data values, formats, and definitions
- Required vs. optional fields
- Data directionality (inbound, outbound, bidirectional)
- Integration method (batch vs. real-time)
- Validate and enhance documentation by exploring source and target systems.
- Use AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, RDS) to inspect data structures and sample records.
- Write SQL queries to investigate data movement, transformations, and integrity.
- Collaborate with application owners, developers, and business stakeholders to clarify unclear or undocumented data flows.
- Maintain organized and version-controlled documentation for reference by technical and business teams.
- Identify discrepancies between documented architecture and actual data behavior.
Required Technical Skills:
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar role focused on data flow and data integration documentation.
- Strong SQL skills for data exploration and verification.
- Experience working with AWS services (especially S3, Redshift, RDS, Glue).
- Ability to interpret and validate existing architecture diagrams.
- Detail-oriented documentation skills, able to produce clear, structured flow maps and tables.
- Understanding of data integration concepts (batch processing, real-time streaming, APIs, ETL).
- Strong communication skills for working across technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with data profiling and data quality assessment.
- Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) for ad-hoc exploration.
- Exposure to API data formats (JSON, XML) and file-based integrations (CSV, Parquet).

Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in OP monthly team meetings and participate in team-building efforts.
- Contribute to OP technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
- Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
- Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
