Senior Product Manager, Wayfinder

Sofar is on a mission to connect the world’s oceans. We design, build, and deploy the largest privately owned network of marine weather sensors to power the world’s best marine weather forecasts. Our data helps our customers to increase efficiency and reduce emissions, delivering tools to governments and other stakeholders to understand impacts of climate change on extreme weather and ocean health. The Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the development of Wayfinder, Sofar’s Voyage Optimization web product. Built on top of the world’s best marine weather forecasts, Wayfinder is used aboard the largest shipping vessels in the world, providing critical decision-making context for captains as they navigate the world's oceans. Global shipping accounts for approximately 3% of worldwide carbon emissions, and by optimizing routes for Captains and Operators, we can make a huge impact on profits and sustainability.

You will collaborate with our Head of Product to define a strategy and roadmap to serve the multi trillion dollar shipping industry. You will develop a deep understanding of our customers and their workflows. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists and designers to prioritize and translate their needs into software. You will own the full lifecycle of research, ideation, prototyping, development, testing, measurement and analysis.

Impact You’ll Own:

• Own the vision, strategy and roadmap for Wayfinder, aligning it with company objectives.


• Deliver against company-wide business targets and product success metrics


• Partner with engineering, design, and GTM teams throughout the product lifecycle


• Lead product discovery to identify and prioritize high impact problems that we are uniquely able to solve for our customers.

About You

• 5+ years of Product Management Experience (ideally in enterprise facing products or recommendation/optimization systems)


• Has a high level of taste, judgment, and customer empathy, and considers themselves the steward of creating great product experiences


• Demonstrates an ownership mindset, taking initiative to address obstacles that stand between customers and solutions.


• Proven executor who thrives in fast-paced, early-stage environments.


• Strong written and verbal communicator with a talent for clear articulation of customer problems


• Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research to build buy-in from internal stakeholders and leadership

Estimated Salary Range

• $165,000 - $220,000


• The range listed is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and may be modified in the future. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, experience, and equity package.
