Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley is seeking a Store Manager for the Oakland ReStore location. The ReStore Manager is responsible for leading the daytoday operations of our retail store. This dynamic role serves as the head salesperson and team leader for the diverse staff and volunteers dedicated to this fundraising initiative. All proceeds generated support the goals and mission of Habitat for Humanity East Bay Silicon Valley, fostering a community where everyone can thrive .

Position Purpose:

General Administration

 

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Oakland ReStore.
  • Enforces, implements, and reviews policies and procedures to ensure the safe, secure, and highquality execution of ReStore duties and activities.
  • Acts to ensure that all donors, customers, and volunteers are treated equitably, with respect and dignity.
  • Oversees and actively participates in store displays, item arrangements, and optimal utilization of available space. Uses the inventory control system to ensure appropriate turnover of aging stock.
  • Coordinates scheduling of all store activities, including staff shifts, volunteer schedules, auctions, and special events.
  • Attends relevant HEBSV meetings.
  • Prepares a monthly store operational report for the Director of Retail Operations, highlighting progress, plan implementation, and future planning.
  • Ensures cleanliness and safety in all areas of the store, offices, and warehouse.
  • Collaborates to enhance the facility's appearance and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborates with the landlord to report and address necessary repairs.
  • Cultivates relationships with other area ReStore Managers to identify and share "best practices" and mutually beneficial programs.
  • Devises and implements a strategic plan for ReStore growth in collaboration with the Director of Retail Operations.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Retail Operations.

Financial Management

  • Regularly reviews ReStore financial transactions.
  • Develops an annual budget and ensures operations remain within budgetary limits.
  • Creates pricing guidelines and ensures their consistent application.
  • Maintains accurate sales, accounting, and banking records for the ReStore.
  • Ensures meticulous recordkeeping and appropriate tracking of donors.
  • Analyzes sales data to identify customer preferences and demands. Maintains a donor database to recognize and appreciate supporters.

Essential Functions of Position:

 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and POS software.
  • Capable of operating office equipment, trucks, warehouses, and other relevant equipment.
  • Selfmotivated, reliable, and enthusiastic. Capable of effectively working with and motivating individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varied capabilities.
  • Able to stand/walk for extended periods in a spacious warehouse environment.
  • Skilled in providing leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers, with the capability to engage in most store activities.
  • Proficient in handling and defusing challenging situations with tact, while showcasing excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb stairs or ladders.
  • Committed to fostering a secure, appealing, and welcoming work environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with building materials and their applications in residential and commercial contexts is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in retail sales is beneficial.
  • Strong customer service skills are essential.
  • Skilled at effectively conveying the Habitat message to potential donors.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Connections within the construction industry are advantageous.
  • Knowledgeable about the Habitat strategic plan and your role within it.
  • Familiar with Habitat's mission and history.
  • Understands the relationship between Habitat, Habitat Affiliates, and Habitat International.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

Some travel may be required. Typical Work Week: 40 to 45 hours per week. Flexibility is essential, as shifts may vary based on operational needs.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is based on experience. We offer health, vision, and dental insurance to fulltime employees and cover 90% of employee premiums, and 50% for spouse, and dependents. We provide a 4% annual salary match to your 403(b)retirement plan after one year of service, with a threeyear cliff vesting. We also offer generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.
