Retailer Financial Support Manager
Job Description and Duties
The California Lottery is seeking a motivated and operationally minded leader to join the Retailer Financial Services unit as a Supervisor I. This position plays an important role in supporting financial operations related to collections, accounts receivables, retailer account management, and operational process improvement. The ideal candidate is someone who can think critically, communicate effectively, support staff through change, and contribute to improving operational efficiency, accuracy, accountability, and customer service.
We are looking for individuals who are collaborative, adaptable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving operational priorities. Candidates should be prepared to balance daily workload demands and production timelines while supporting process improvement efforts, operational changes, issue resolution, and overall team performance. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful operational improvements while supporting a team responsible for critical financial and customer support functions within the California Lottery.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as assigned. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: “telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours for Personal Leave hours each month. - Accountability & Compliance – Experience maintaining accountability and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Financial Operations – Experience reviewing, reconciling, or overseeing financial, banking, collections, or accounting-related activities.
- Process Improvement – Experience developing or improving operational procedures, workflows, or business processes.
- Change Management – Experience leading implementation efforts or supporting change management initiatives in an operational environment.
- Operational Analysis – Experience using data, reports, reconciliations, or operational metrics to support decision-making and improve outcomes.
- Staff Development – Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff in a collaborative environment.
- Interpersonal Judgement – Experience handling escalated issues or sensitive situations using sound judgement and professionalism.
- Financial Stewardship – Knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, fiduciary responsibility, or banking operations.
