Data Engineer
- Develop and maintain KPIs, metrics, and dashboards by leveraging diverse datasets.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through data validation, cleansing, and error handling.
- Design and implement back-end processes using data warehouse modeling techniques.
- Build and optimize ELT pipelines to capture and transform data for analytics and reporting.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather and refine business requirements for data solutions.
- Implement data security measures and access controls to protect sensitive information.
- Automate and improve data processes and workflows for scalability and efficiency.
- Develop, test, and maintain high-quality code in SQL, Python, Power BI, Azure Synapse, dbt, Airflow or similar programming languages.
- Distill problem definitions, models, and constraints from informal business requirements.
- Monitor data infrastructure for performance and reliability to address issues promptly.
- Participate in data governance and compliance efforts to meet regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis, ETL, and data warehousing, including experience working with MS SQL Server database and Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and Power BI).
- Ability to independently execute mid-level data engineering tasks with ownership of projects.
- Ability to implement Data Warehouse modeling techniques to capture complex business requirements.
- Ability to contribute to the development of scalable data solutions and streamline reporting.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, specifically with MS SQL Server 2012 and higher, and Python and libraries like Pandas, PyODBC, NumPy, is required.
- Experience with BI tools (Power BI) and data visualization.
- Experience using Azure Synapse, dbt, Dagster or Airflow, and Fabric is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with BI/DW lifecycle including source data analysis, ETL, data-marts, reporting, dashboards and analytics.
- Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Experience with AGILE methodology, desirable.
- Experience with Healthcare data not required, but highly desirable.
- Bonus: Experience with healthcare data and Kimball methodology.
