Commercial Attorney (Public Sector) (San Francisco)

The Position

An international technology company specializing in AI-driven road safety solutions is expanding into U.S. markets. They are seeking a commercial attorney to serve as the primary legal partner for their U.S.-based customer engagement team, which is actively pursuing government contracts across various states and municipalities.

This role is ideal for someone with extensive experience negotiating state and local government contracts, particularly those involving SaaS, AI, and data privacy. The person in this position will be the sole legal contact in the U.S., supporting the sales team directly, negotiating contracts, advising on RFPs, and escalating complex matters to the General Counsel in Australia.

The position suits someone who enjoys operating independently, working closely with business teams, and navigating public sector commercial frameworks.

This is an ongoing, remote position, typically requiring 10 hours per week, with occasional weeks expanding to 15-20 hours. The hourly rate is expected to be between $115 and $120, based on qualifications, experience, client needs, and other legal considerations.
