Under the general supervision of the Administrator I, the Business Entity (BE) Administrative Dissolution (AD) Team Lead, within the BE Collection Operations Section, the Senior Compliance Representative Lead serves as a technical advisor and lead to a team of Compliance Representatives, engaged in AD activities, BE tax and collection support, and compliance work of varying difficulty. This position is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of the work performed by the team, and works to ensure the team’s performance supports the bureau and division’s business plans and departmental goals.

Specific duties include reviewing the team’s work to ensure the most effective and appropriate collection methods and tools are being utilized, that standards for account processing and account adjustments are being met, and that final resolutions are appropriate. Performs call monitoring and on-the-job training to develop and improve collection competencies of the team, identify areas of improvement, and recommend appropriate training to ensure the quality and accuracy of individuals on the team. Performs daily operational planning and workload prioritizing, as well as review within the Taxpayer Folder (TPF) and Case Management (CM) systems and performs production duties necessary to the collection of revenue while maintaining the level of service goals.

The incumbent will also evaluate collection tools, techniques, procedures, and workloads to identify opportunities for improvement and recommend viable solutions. The incumbent gathers production data, prepares/maintains technical and statistical data for weekly reports, and prepares group statistical reports to ensure the quality and accuracy of the work performed by the team.

Working Conditions

  • This position is eligible for limited remote working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework. This is subject to change.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Knowledge of Business Entitiy (BE) laws, Revenue and Taxation Code (R&TC), policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in reviewing staff work on Taxpayer Folder (TPF), Case Management (CM), Business Entities Tax System (BETS), and Enterprise Tax Systems (ETS)
  • BE collection experience
  • Inventory management experience
  • Communication skills (written and oral) for special projects or development of procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments
  • Ability and desire to train and develop staff
  • Working knowledge of and experience in the Qfiniti system
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and good judgment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent work ethic and positive attitude
  • Experience presenting work related material to small and large audiences
  • Experience working in a call center
  • Working knowledge of CM Reports and Accounts Receivable Management Reporting (ARMR)
