Under general direction of the Senior Land Surveyor, this person will supervise professional and technical field staff performing land boundary, construction, and primary vertical and horizontal control surveys, while incorporating electronic measurement and automatic computations, recordation, and display techniques. This person will also perform a wide variety of difficult and complex professional surveying work.

Must possess a valid California Land Surveying license.

Must possess a valid California driver's license when conducting State business that requires driving a vehicle.

This position may require overnight lodging on short notice; travel to facilities via air travel or other means of transportation; driving a pick-up truck or other vehicle off road on rugged or uneven terrain to and from sites; including possible transportation of trailer-based equipment, along with traversing rugged or uneven terrain, embankments, tunnels, pipes, around swift moving waterways, other enclosed areas and in adverse weather conditions.

Must have the ability to transport and move equipment to sites up to 50 pounds through rough terrain, rivers and lakes, possibly unassisted. Including the use of aquatic vehicles such as boats, along with being able to swim and stay afloat in case of capsizing.

Require working in offices with artificial lighting and varying temperatures. Using various types of software including Power Point, Word, Excel, Access, ESRI GIS software, Outlook including maintaining a visible calendar, and statistical software to store and process data and prepare reports and presentations.
