Join our advanced water treatment facility in Santa Monica, CA as the Advanced Water Mechanic of the Sustainable Water Infrastructure Program (SWIP). SWIP provides a drought resilient water supply for the City of Santa Monica by producing up to 1,680 acre-feet per year of advanced treated recycled water through the advanced water treatment facility, stormwater harvesting, and upgrades to the Santa Monica Urban Runoff Recycling Facility. Treatment process include membranes, cartridge filters, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet advanced oxidation.

Under supervision of the Chief Plant Operator, as a Mechanic of the SWIP facility, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our client can deliver their services – uninterrupted. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to challenges that may arise. You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, structures, grounds, machinery and equipment; lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions; replace packing in pumps or valves; replace bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment; tune engines, set valve clearance, clean, and adjust regulators; examine equipment failures to identify cause and to prevent recurrences; install and set up new equipment; assist in keeping maintenance records; and perform other duties, as required. Here's what you'll need

• Possess a valid driver’s license with no major infractions.

• Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance of wastewater, advanced water, or water treatment plants and related equipment, or similar industrial setting.

• Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and instruments used in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of mechanical equipment.

• Knowledge of basic electrical.

• Ability to diagnose malfunctions and determine effective courses of action for correcting them.

• Proficient in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

• Proficiency in safely using hand and power tools.

Ideally, you'll also have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.

• CWEA Mechanical Technologist Grade 1 or above is preferred.

• Familiarity with the principles and practices of water, advanced water, or wastewater treatment plant operations and process control.

• Forklift and / or heavy equipment experience.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Possess experience coordinating maintenance activities with operational needs and evaluating maintenance policies and objectives.

87,300.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

97,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $87,300.00 to $97,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
