Consumer Information Technician
Job Description and Duties
Under the general supervision of the Licensing Program Supervising Program Technician II (SPT II), the Program Technician II (PT II) works at the journey level in the Medical Board of California’s (MBC) Licensing Program’s Consumer Information Unit (CIU) and responds to a variety of requests from the public, organizations, applicants, and licensees for current information about the professions and occupations regulated by the Board and provides sensitive detailed program information and/or direction.

Working Conditions
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview. However, they must reside in the State of California once they are hired and start working.
Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period as outlined on "Section 2113 - Personal Leave Program (PLP)" of the CalHR Manual. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
MBC has temporarily adopted telework for employees who can effectively perform their essential work functions remotely. After an initial training period, this position will allow for some telework opportunities. All telework schedules are temporary, based on current conditions, and will be re-evaluated as conditions change.
Special Requirements
Criminal Offender Record Information: Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program materials at all times.
