Hiring/Budgeted Salary or Hourly Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $23.60 - $25.17/hr.
Full Salary Range: The full salary range for this position is $23.60 - $33.45/hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University.

Brief Summary of Job Duties
Senior Cashier Reports to and works under the supervision of the Cashier Manager. Receives and processes payments in excess of $175 million annually using the CASHNet cashiering system and the BARC receivables system. Provides professional customer service to a diverse population of students, employees and the general public. Verifies and processes daily deposits from sub-cashiering units. Balances cash and checks to totals at the end of the day. Assures compliance of University policies and procedures. Serves as campus resource for inquiries about departments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years Cashiering experience to include bank deposit processing and/or Accounts Receivable posting.
Preferred Qualifications
- UC Experience and/or institution of higher education.
- 1-3 years Customer service experience in finance.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
- 60% Student Payment Processing -Uses the CASHNet cashiering system and the BARC receivables system to interpret, designate and record various combinations of payments for BARC charges. This includes payments for registration, housing, telephone, Student Health, library fines, Registrar's Office, Graduate Division, Film Studies charges, etc. Ensures accuracy of processed payments paying close attention to detail. Receives, audits and processes forms for various campus departments such as Registrars and Graduate Division adhering to department specific deadlines. Applies knowledge of specific department's forms, charges and procedures for completing the transaction. Assists customers with payment inquiries using CASHNet. Coordinates with BARC Third Party Billing team to identify and post payments to customer accounts. Due to the complex nature of these remittances, coordination and attention to detail is critical. Coordinates with the BARC Collection team to process payments for past due AR accounts via the Flywire Collect database. Processes the Flywire 529 plan wire payments to student BARC accounts.
- 25% Departmental Deposit Processing-Counts, verifies, audits and processes departmental deposits upon receipt using the CASHNet cashiering system. Ensures accuracy of processed general ledger account numbers and information as this data will be transmitted to the campus general ledger system. Advises departments of correct procedures for processing deposits either on-line or in person. Contacts departments if there are correcting entries to be made on the system. Performs processing of high volume gift forms for campus departments. Accuracy is critical in support of the campuses donation and gift documentation process.
- 10% Customer Service -Campus Department Support: Responds to inquiries from departments regarding deposit posting questions or issues. Determines problem and provides solutions and training. BARC Customer Support: Responds to inquiries from parents and students regarding BARC payment questions or issues. Determines problem and provides solution and training. Requires thorough knowledge of UCSB Cash Handling policies, FERPA/HIPA policies, UC receivable policies, and in-depth knowledge of CASHNet, BARC, and GL systems and transaction processing.
- 5% Other - Performs other duties as assigned.
