Sr. Accountant

Description Robert Half is partnering with a client in the education industry to find a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities: + Manage and oversee general ledger functions, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. + Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP. + Lead budget preparation and variance analysis, providing insights to support strategic decision-making. + Reconcile bank accounts, payroll, and balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance. + Assist in the development and documentation of internal policies and controls to improve operational efficiency. + Collaborate across departments to monitor grant funding, program expenses, and other education-specific financial activities. + Review and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including audits. + Oversee the work of accounting staff, providing mentorship and technical guidance when needed. Requirements + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior experience in the education sector or nonprofit field preferred. + Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.). + Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles. + Experience with fund/grant accounting is a plus. + Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. + Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. + CPA certification (or progress toward completion) is preferred but not required.
