HEALTH PROGRAM SPECIALIST I
Job Description and Duties
Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit R01 , and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by three percent and will receive five PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.
Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Health Program Specialist (HPS) I is a highly skilled technical consultant who performs a variety of tasks related to administration of healthcare program including: planning, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of health program and special studies or projects. The HPS I research and evaluates health policy issues, analyzes healthcare data, coordinates health program activities, and disseminates information to stakeholders.
This position is located in the Clinical Administrative Operations Branch, Medical Services. The Branch provides essential analytical support to the Deputy Medical Executives and Program Chiefs of Dietary, Imaging, Pharmacy, and Laboratory Services. Additionally, staff in this Branch oversee Medical Services’ personnel, fiscal, contracts, procurement, training, information technology, and intranet service needs.

The position(s) is eligible for hybrid telework, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
