Senior Applications Engineer (Milpitas)

Job Summary & Responsibilities

1. Become a Subject Matter Expert on Onto Innovations Inspection products.
2. Support customer applications development activities that require full understanding of the system set-up, inspection of customers product, confirmation of optimal and accurate results, and presentation of results.
3. Work closely with internal and external customers to understand their requirements and challenges and ensure that Onto Innovation's systems are configured and utilized optimally.
4. Provide support and applications training to customers as well as various internal functional groups to ensure systems are being used effectively.
5. Develop system requirements that meet customer requirements and product definitions provided by other departments.
6. Assist in developing and executing system level test plans to validate that the engineering designs meet customer requirements.
7. Compile and assist in the presentation of test data collected during design validations to a peer group of engineers.
8. Contribute to documentation for use in the manufacture, installation, technical support and training related to the final design.
9. Support engineering products through entire life cycle.
10. Support training, application support, and characterization of NPI (new product introduction).
11. 10%-20% domestic and international travel required.

Qualifications

1. 5 Years of experience in related field.
2. Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering.
3. Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
4. Ability to gather and analyze data and then create clear reports and presentations.
5. Ability to identify and troubleshoot potential hardware or software performance issues.
6. Able to efficiently gain expertise on products in a fast-paced environment.
7. Good organization and planning skills.
