WHAT DOES A LOSS PREVENTION & RECOVERY SPECIALIST DO?
As a Loss Prevention & Recovery Specialist at Christian Community Credit Union , you'll play a vital role in monitoring delinquent accounts—both secured and unsecured—to identify early warning signs of potential loss. Your keen analytical skills will enable you to develop preventive strategies while meeting the daily minimum of outbound collection calls, ensuring accurate documentation in all necessary systems and logs. By assessing each member's financial status, you'll create effective repayment or settlement plans tailored to their individual circumstances, fostering a customer-centric approach to service. Additionally, in alignment with company policy, you'll prepare vehicles for repossession, contributing to our commitment to excellence and integrity in loss prevention efforts.

To thrive as a Loss Prevention & Recovery Specialist at Christian Community Credit Union , a solid foundation in collections, loss mitigation, or loan recovery is essential, with a minimum of three years of experience within a financial institution. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, alongside a knowledge of State and Federal regulations related to collections. You should be adept in collection activities, understanding legal actions, skip tracing, repossession procedures, and the nuances of truth in lending. Proficiency in word processing (Word) and spreadsheets (Excel) is crucial, complemented by a strong grasp of Fair Collections Practices for both consumer and commercial loans, secured and unsecured.
Exceptional negotiation and communication skills are vital, enabling you to effectively influence repayment outcomes while handling sensitive situations with professionalism. Familiarity with legal recovery tools and bankruptcy procedures is key to achieving successful resolutions and maintaining a high level of member service. Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum three years of experience in collections, loss mitigation, or loan recovery within a financial institution required
- Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations pertaining to the area of collections required
- Experience with collection activities, legal actions, skip tracing, repossession procedures, truth in lending requirements, bankruptcy proceedings, small claims activities and the process of foreclosure required
- Knowledge of word processing (Word required) and spreadsheets (Excel required)
- In-depth understanding of Fair Collections Practices for both consumer and commercial loans, secured and unsecured
- Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence repayment outcomes
- Ability to handle sensitive situations professionally while maintaining a focus on resolution and member service
- Familiarity with legal recovery tools, repossession processes, and bankruptcy procedures
