Area Manager

Compensation: $85,000 - 90,000/year, paid bi-weekly About the Role

Coucou is looking for an experienced, hands-on Area Manager to oversee front-of-house (FOH) operations across our locations. This is a high-visibility leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, has an eye for detail, and enjoys building strong teams. You'll serve as the connective link between ownership and floor management, ensuring every guest receives the level of service Coucou is known for.

• Oversee and support FOH teams across assigned locations, serving as their direct point of escalation and accountability
• Report directly to ownership and act as the communication bridge between leadership and floor management teams
• Manage day-to-day FOH operations: assigning tasks, problem-solving, ensuring compliant work breaks, enforcing Coucou standards, and training new hires
• Maintain an intimate knowledge of our food, cocktail, and wine menus, and be able to speak to all items in a detailed yet approachable way
• Ensure consistent execution of the Coucou Steps of Service at every table, every shift
• Communicate regularly with ownership through daily service reports and weekly management meetings
• Field guest complaints calmly and professionally, resolving issues on the floor and looping in ownership as needed
• Support hiring, onboarding, and scheduling for FOH staff, including managing scheduling conflicts and time-off requests
• Maintain Coucou's dress code and grooming standards, and enforce them across teams

• Prior experience in a multi-unit or high-volume restaurant management role
• Strong leadership and communication skills — someone who can hold a team accountable while staying approachable
• Comfort working directly with ownership and taking initiative without needing constant oversight
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and some holidays, and to travel between locations as business needs evolve
• A collaborative, "no task too small" mentality — as a small team, we all pitch in where needed

This is a salaried exempt position, paid bi-weekly. As an exempt role under California law, this position is not eligible for overtime pay. Schedule and location assignment are flexible and subject to change at ownership's discretion based on business needs.
