Mechanic
Our Client's equipment rental operation is looking for an experience diesel mechanic to join their 100 year old company. Successful candidates will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium duty diesel trucks and trailers, with various types of hydraulic lifting booms and power operated cable winching equipment. We're looking for highly skilled, well-experienced, organized professionals with their own complete roll-away tool cabinet and portable tool cart, people that take pride in their work and can perform various duties as required throughout the day and work independently with a minimum of supervision.
What You Will Do:
- Diagnose trucks for immediate repairs, such as smoking engines, burned out clutches. Circuit test truck electrical, hydraulic and air systems based on observational and mechanical bench testing as well as information provided from Truck Service Manuals.
- Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services on trucks and trailer equipment including batteries, lube oil and filter changes, and be able to inspect brakes, and identify engine and transmission leaks.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, electrical, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition. Be able to identify and determine parts required for repair on disassembled components on a truck chassis, and communicate clearly to the Parts Dept for ordering required parts.
- Maintain neat and tidy work area appearance and always observe safety procedures.
- Be able to work independently or in a group setting to accomplish repairs requested.
- Be able to multi-task and switch jobs when requested or assigned by supervisor.
- Must be able to arrive on time each day, allowing for freeway traffic and weather conditions, and provide own transportation.
- Work will be performed onsite at company shop.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Good working mechanical knowledge and communication skills.
- Practical experience as a full-service diesel mechanic.
- Know how to bench test and diagnose various truck equipment components - will train to suit.
- Should have own roll-away tool cabinet and portable tool cart required to conduct all types of truck hydraulic equipment repairs.
- Be a self-starter and continued excellent daily attendance is a must.
- Commitment to customer service and attention to detail.
- Must be able to R & R and reassemble truck hydraulic equipment such as pumps, motors, power-takeoffs and hydraulic cylinders with minimum supervision.
- Successful candidate will be properly trained by highly skilled personnel to efficiently handle troubleshooting assignments.
Must Have's:
- Minimum 5 years experience as a diesel mechanic, experience with equipment rentals companies a plus.
- Must have own complete set of mechanic’s tools.
- Must have own automobile transportation and current valid driver’s license.
