Job Description and Duties

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 1 , and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by three percent and will receive five PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) seeks to fill Permanent/Full Time Supervisor I (Specialist) positions in the Performance Management Unit (PMU). Under the general direction of the Manager II, Performance Management Unit, the Supervisor I (Specialist) is responsible for providing statewide guidance and expertise to all levels of management in areas involving employee performance and administration of the department’s disciplinary process impacting mental health, dental, and medical staff at the institutions and within CCHCS. The incumbent also oversees the Allegations Against Staff Tracking System and the unit’s reporting functions. This assignment has extensive travel, approximately 30%.

This position is located in Labor Relations, Performance Management, and Staff Development. Staff in this program are responsible for promoting harmonious labor relations between CCHCS, its employees, and employee organizations; providing management/supervisors with the tools and resources necessary to carry out the state’s progressive disciplinary process; and delivering effective and innovative training to further employees’ professional growth.
