Payroll Specialist
Payroll Analyst
Location: Irvine, CA
Pay: $30-$35/hr
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Position Overview
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for supporting and executing payroll operations, with a primary focus on provider (Doctor/Clinician) payroll processes. This role manages payroll activities related to provider compensation, including contract setup, incentive calculations, draws/advances, and final pay processing. The Payroll Analyst will collaborate closely with Operations, Legal, Accounting, HR, and IT teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while delivering exceptional customer service and issue resolution.
The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of progressive payroll experience, strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and experience supporting multi-state payroll environments. Workday Payroll experience is highly preferred.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 4–6 years of progressive payroll experience with hands-on payroll processing and analysis experience.
- Advanced Excel skills required, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, IF statements, and data analysis.
- Multi-state payroll experience preferred.
- Workday Payroll experience a strong plus, but not required.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred; candidates actively pursuing CPP certification are encouraged to apply.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of relevant payroll experience required.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of payroll accounting, GAAP principles, and general ledger journal entries.
- Experience supporting payroll operations within a healthcare, dental, retail, or multi-location environment preferred.
- Experience with payroll systems, reporting, and data analysis tools.
Major Responsibilities
- Manage payroll-related inquiries from clinicians and providers through case management ticketing systems, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Support the review, setup, and maintenance of provider (Doctor/Clinician) contracts within the Provider Compensation system.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of RDH incentive contracts, including calculation validation and payroll system entry.
- Support monthly incentive processing and semi-monthly draw/advance payroll activities.
- Prepare and validate payroll files while ensuring accurate final pay calculations for provider terminations.
- Process additional compensation payments, including training pay, sick pay, honorariums, and other supplemental earnings, ensuring appropriate documentation and approvals.
- Assist with provider payroll processes related to overpayment recovery and resolution.
- Provide payroll guidance and communicate policies and procedures to Regional Partners, Regional Managers, and field teams.
- Compile payroll data and reports for internal departments and business needs.
- Maintain compliance with payroll policies, regulatory requirements, and SOX controls.
- Perform additional payroll-related duties and special projects as assigned.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees, management, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex payroll data.
