The Information Technology team at Rubrik influences business processes, employee experience, and technologies to scale our organization to $1B+. This team creates operational efficiency across the company by centralizing the management of Infrastructure, Technology, and Data. The IT team ensures all stages of the software development lifecycle in a secured environment and scrutinizes the deployment of proper processes along with governance. They champion Rubrik on Rubrik and are the first customers of the Engineering teams at Rubrik.
Rubrik Corp IT is constructed of 100% SaaS and 0% on-premises. The IT team caters to accelerated enhancement of business value and multiple day-to-day business processes through our varied SaaS applications like Salesforce.com , Oracle Netsuite, Workday, Snowflake, Etrade, jitterbit, Allocadia, etc. This team also delivers high-paced business outcomes with 100% system uptime backed by agile, nimble, simple, but cohesive Cloud architectures.
About the role:
As a senior systems engineer, you will be responsible for strategic architecture, deployment, automation, and management of virtualization platforms (VMware, OpenStack, OpenShift, Nutanix), container orchestration environments (Kubernetes), automation pipelines, monitoring and logging solutions . This involves:
• Driving infrastructure innovation with an “everything-as-a-service” approach.
• Spearheading efficiency through automation and continuous improvements.
• Aligning infrastructure initiatives with the organization's strategic objectives.
What you’ll do:
- Architecture & Implementation
– Lead the design, architecting, and implementation of robust, highly scalable infrastructure solutions using virtualization and Kubernetes technologies.
– Ensure infrastructure solutions align with the company’s overall IT strategy and business requirements. - Automation & Operational Efficiency
– Champion an “everything-as-code” philosophy to ensure infrastructure is consistently deployed, configured, and managed in a structured and repeatable way. - System & Operation Management
– Manage and maintain virtualized platforms (VMWare, OpenStack, OpenShift, Kubernetes) and physical server infrastructure.
– Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and reliability metrics; proactively address performance bottlenecks and scalability needs.
– Oversee virtualization platforms to ensure optimal performance and high availability of servers and infrastructure resources.
– Configure, deploy, and manage Windows Active Directory/Domain Architecture. - Application & Network Understanding
– Maintain in-depth knowledge of end-to-end application flows and dependencies.
– Possess excellent expertise in networking technologies, protocols, and best practices for deployment and troubleshooting. - Monitoring, Logging & Observability
– Own observability solutions, monitoring platforms, logging tools, and alerting systems.
– Collaborate with development teams to define and implement monitoring and logging enhancements that align with Service-Level Objectives. - Technical Expertise & Scripting
– Demonstrate extensive knowledge of Linux-based operating systems (Ubuntu, Red Hat, SUSE) and UNIX/RISC systems (Solaris Sparc, AIX, HP-UX).
– Utilize exceptional scripting/programming skills (Shell, Python, Perl, PowerShell, Go) to automate operational activities and streamline system configurations. - Cloud Technologies
– Work with modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud integration.
– Collaborate regularly with Software Engineering, IT Infrastructure, Security, Network Engineering, Product Management, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams.
Experience you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field (or equivalent industry experience).
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps methodologies, infrastructure architecture, virtualization technology (VMware vSphere), Kubernetes solutions, and complex infrastructure automation.
• Strong enterprise data center operations and infrastructure management experience.
The minimum and maximum base salaries for this role are posted below; additionally, the role is eligible for bonus potential, equity and benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the role based on U.S. location. Within the range, the salary offered will be determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

$154,800—$232,200 USD
