The Data Science & Analytics organization’s mission is to increase our speed, frequency and acumen of making decisions at scale by instilling a data-influenced approach to building products. We cover a wide area of the data spectrum including analytical data engineering, product analytics, experimentation, causal inference, statistical modeling and machine learning. Aligned and partnering with product verticals, we use this extensive toolbelt to discover new opportunities and unmet use cases, influence and shape the product roadmap and prioritization, build data products and measure impact on our community of players and creators.

WHY CREATOR DATA SCIENCE?

For a data scientist, the Roblox Creator ecosystem is a fascinating and complex system that provides an endless supply of deeply interesting and impactful problems. How to accurately quantify the impact of changes to our creation tools (think Roblox Studio) on the overall health of the platform? How to precisely value experiences and content? What kind of data insights can we provide to help Roblox excel in every genre and type of experience, from platform games to first-person-shooters?

A key mission for our creator group is to cultivate a diverse community of proficient creators, and help them mature into thriving businesses. As a data scientist, you will be a key partner to our product and engineering teams to shape the direction of this team. You’ll partner with data scientists, product managers, engineers and leaders across the company to better understand our creators and the resources that best support their success.

You Will :

• Build innovative and scalable data products and analyses to empower our creator community.


• Design experiments or causal studies to quantify impact from creator facing product feature launches.


• Define metrics to evaluate success and build dashboards to track progress.


• Influence how Roblox interacts with its players and its platform creators to accelerate creator velocity.


• Be a strategic thought partner that uses data and insights to drive growth.


• Provide technical mentorship and expertise that multiplies the contributions of data scientists across the org.


• Build, maintain, and scale reliable data pipelines and dashboards to ensure accurate and timely visibility into team metrics and platform health.

You Have:

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Math, Economics, Engineering or other related quantitative fields


• 3+ years of industry experience in Data Science and Analytics


• Experience developing a vision, roadmap, datasets, and tooling in a nascent area


• Knowledge of statistics fundamentals to support experimental design and causal analysis


• Experience with exploratory data analysis, data analysis to inform product design decisions, statistical analysis and testing, and machine learning model development


• Experience building data pipelines and dashboards yourself.


• Domain knowledge related to gaming, communication, education, building out a platform, and/or enabling creators.


• Experience with data visualization and / or building an analytics platform


• Experience working on customer support, relations, and / or services


• Experience working on the creator/seller/producer/content side of platforms.

• A strong communicator. You understand that analysis must be presented in meaningful ways and engage in spirited discussions about the findings. You have the ability to explain technical concepts to executives and non-technical audiences and discuss appropriate tradeoffs.


• A capable statistician. You understand the value of characterizing data by its distribution. Covariance, Bias, and Conditional Probability are concepts that you rely on every day.


• Experienced in experimentation and developing models to draw insights from data. You use experimentation, causal inference, and other statistical techniques to create scalable solutions to solve difficult business problems. You understand when to apply the appropriate methodology to maximize impact in a pragmatic fashion.


• Excited about building your own data pipelines and dashboards .
