Employee Relations and Compliance Specialist
- Conduct investigations involving allegations of policy and/or employment legal violations, working to ensure that issues are properly identified, reported, investigated and resolved.
- Provide expert advice and counsel to managers and HR Business Partners to ensure correct application and integration of policies on issues with particular risk.
- Proactively research, interpret, and track applicable employment laws and conduct periodic risk assessments and internal audits of HR functions to identify and address non-compliance gaps, as part of a larger HR compliance program.
- Draft and manage HR policies, and provide expert guidance on HR tools, templates and processes for legal compliance and alignment with Waymo’s goals and values.
- At least five (5) years of experience investigating complex employee relations issues and/or advising on complex employee relations issues as a licensed attorney.
- Excellent oral and writing skills and experience writing investigation reports.
- Experience working on employee relations or employment law matters in both a startup and large company environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organization, and collaborate with other teams.
- Able to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities independently and keep current with workload.
- Experience developing and managing a HR compliance program.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) with at least 3 years of experience practicing employment law
- Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree in Human Resources
- Experience working in a mid- to late-startup technology company
- As needed.
