The American Century Investments Technology Group is looking for a talented Software Engineer Specialist with confirmed analysis and design skills to support our Portfolio Management teams. You will provide leadership and guidance in the design, development, implementation, configuration, integration, and support of the various technology tools used by Portfolio Management team. This includes working closely with a diverse group of veteran portfolio teams and research analysts to understand their needs and then translating those into solutions.

Responsibilities:

The Software Engineer Specialist will understand the challenges of our business and be able to apply scalable technology solutions.

• You will be part of an application development team that works closely with Investment Management, Compliance, Trading and Research/Analyst teams to provide technology solutions
• Your responsibilities include, but not limited to, application development, systems integration, requirements gathering, documentation, and validation testing of investment applications
• You will work with complex data sets to provide solutions with an emphasis on scalability, reuse, and analytic robustness
• Closely follow application life cycle standards and procedures
• Building relationships with internal business partners and vendors
• You, as part of a team, will provide on call support and occasional overtime may be required

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• 3+ years of IT experience developing and leading technology solutions
• Experience building applications using Spring Framework (Spring Integration, Spring Boot), Microservices, APIs (RESTful, JSON)
• Working knowledge of Cloud technologies (AWS), containers, non-relational databases
• Experience working with sophisticated enterprise users to perform business analysis, extract requirements, implement solutions, and provide training and support
• Knowledge of formal application development methodologies
• Proficiency in the clear expression of ideas both verbally and in writing with business and technical teams

Preferred:

• Knowledge of the financial services industry, including financial securities, mutual funds, and ETFs
• Knowledge of Fixed Income instruments such as Taxable Bonds, Government Bonds, Municipal Bonds, Futures, Derivatives, and FX
• Experience working with Python is preferred
• Experience developing cloud native solutions is preferred
• Experience with SQL and relational database platforms (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server)
• Experience building applications using CI/CD pipeline
• Knowledge of project management & Agile methodologies, especially Scrum and Kanban

Hybrid work environment

For CA based candidates, the salary range for this role is $125,000 - $155,000. Actual offers are based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s location, skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. This position is eligible for cash incentive providing the potential to earn more.
