Job Description and Duties
Under California Government Code 14200, this position is eligible for hybrid telework for eligible applicants residing in California. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Candidates who reside outside of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded. In accordance with CSD’s Policy Directive 22-001, all telework employees utilize a shared workspace or “hotel” space when working on-site and may be required to report in-person to headquarters and/or off-site locations more frequently as determined by management. The Department reserves the right to modify or cancel telework agreements and/or conditions as needed.

Under the general direction of the Community Services & Development (CSD) Deputy Director of Programs Branch, the Supervisor Il functions as the Branch Chief of the Community Services Branch. The Branch Chief maintains primary responsibility for ensuring the effective and compliant administration of programs under the purview of the Community Services Branch, including the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), a federally funded program which provides core funding to local agencies to reduce poverty, revitalize low-income communities and empower low- income families to become self-sufficient. The incumbent establishes policy and work direction for the planning, implementation, and management of CSBG grant funds, including the administration of CSBG grant funds by the statewide network of local public and non-profit subgrantees. In addition, the Branch Chief may be responsible for other poverty-related programs that are not CSBG funded.
