Staff Accountant POST NUMBER: 474816
Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the day?to?day accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely month?end close activities, and adherence to internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and year?end close.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts.
- Assist with financial statement preparation, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal reporting standards.
- Support SOX compliance activities, including documentation, testing, and maintaining internal control procedures (preferred for public?company environments).
- Analyze variances and provide explanations for fluctuations in financial results.
- Assist with audit requests, including external financial audits and internal audits.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with cross?functional teams such as AP, AR, FP&A, and Operations to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
- Support process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within the accounting function.
- Participate in special projects, system implementations, and ad?hoc reporting as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience; experience at a publicly traded company.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and standard accounting practices.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) preferred.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
