Research Engineer / Research Scientist - Deep Research

About the Team

The Deep Research team is responsible for building the models that power our Deep Research capability (see our research preview) and other future agentic offerings. Our team helps shape the direction of our agentic products and conducts fundamental research inspired by our product direction.

About the Role

As a Research Engineer / Scientist, you will do research and engineering work to improve our models. Potential research areas include:

  • Working closely with product to identify new agentic capabilities, and developing methods to train these capabilities into the model

  • Developing evals and datasets to assess and improve the model’s performance on challenging or important tasks

  • Pursuing algorithmic improvements to improve the intelligence of the model

  • Developing new tools and training the model to use them

We're looking for individuals with ML engineering skills, research experience, and an interest in building products.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Own and pursue a research agenda to improve model capability and performance.

  • Build robust evaluations for tracking modeling improvements.

  • Design, implement, test, and debug code across our research stack.

  • Collaborate closely with the other research and product / applied teams, allowing customers to optimize their own models.
