We are electrical engineers for commercial, k-12 and healthcare projects. In short, we are looking for senior leaders with experience designing electrical systems for commercial buildings who can also grow into future partners and mentors.
What You’ll Be Doing (essential job functions)
● Design a Single Line Diagram and coordinate space requirements for electrical equipment with Architect
● Coordinate with the serving power, telephone, and cable TV utility companies regarding new services or modifications to existing services
● Conceive and design interior and exterior lighting plans based on architectural drawings including fixture types, locations, and controls
● Prepare a Lighting Fixture Schedule
● Coordinate and/or perform point-by-point footcandle studies
● Perform or direct others to perform EnergyPro Title 24 documentation for inclusion in the drawings
● Design emergency lighting and power systems, with oversight from Principal-in-charge
● Determine receptacle locations in and on buildings based on architectural drawings and the drawings of other consultants
● Design electric power connections to HVAC equipment
● Determine locations for fire alarm devices based architectural and structural drawings
● Determine outlet locations for safety and technology systems
● Coordinate with Extron or others regarding audio-video systems
● Layout branch conduit and wiring systems for lighting and receptacle circuits
● Layout conduit and raceway systems for low voltage wiring
● Design a power distribution system for a multi-building site
● Design a low voltage distribution system for a multi-building site
● Prepare electrical specifications using master specs or other specs
● Access DSA internet Bluebeam plan check session and respond to comments
● Manage production to meet the project schedule, communicate/coordinate with architects and other consultants, as needed[AS1]
● Notify the Principal-in-charge if problems develop and when additional services are required
● Complete monthly invoicing based on project milestones.
● Walk through construction sites and prepare punch lists. Complete all Construction Administration tasks such as answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, creating as built drawings.
● Examine existing facilities to determine electrical interconnections for additions and modernization projects
What You Bring to the Table
● Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or other related field
● Minimum of 5 years of project management industry experience, including working knowledge of the National Electric Code and California T24 energy codes
● Proven experience overseeing large construction projects from start to finish and reading and understanding other consultant drawings as it relates to the electrical design
● Working knowledge of how commercial photovoltaic power and battery energy storage systems are designed and connected to the utility grid
● Excellent client-facing, written, and verbal communication skills
● Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
● Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
● Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
● Strong problem-solving ability to identify, analyze, and support personal, department, client and organizational objectives
● Proficient in MS Office and project management software
Physical Requirements
The individual must possess the knowledge and following abilities or able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:
● Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time
● Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents
● Sufficient vision abilities to read information appearing on a computer screen, in hand-written forms, and printed on papers or drawings of architectural/electrical layout
● Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
● Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
● Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to drive a vehicle
● Regular and routine attendance
