Master Scheduler
Gerard Daniel Worldwide, headquartered in Hanover PA, is seeking a Master Scheduler to join our team in California.
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Master Scheduler is to plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor the flow of raw materials through to finished goods across the entire manufacturing cycle. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production efficiency, material availability, and on-time delivery. Success in this position requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to develop, maintain, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure adherence and execution of the master production schedule.
Essential Functions
- Master Production Scheduling:
Develop, maintain, and revise the master production schedule for both manufactured and purchased finished goods. Provide accurate promise dates to Sales based on backlog and available capacity. Manage and expedite approved rush orders through the manufacturing process.
- Work Order Management:
Oversee all manufacturing and subcontract work orders from release through financial closure. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure all routing steps are properly executed.
- Capacity Planning:
Review capacity plans, identify constraints, and propose operational strategies to the manufacturing team to optimize resource utilization.
- Material Requirements Coordination:
Work closely with Sales and Procurement to align raw material needs based on bills of materials (BOMs), inventory data, and the master production schedule. Ensure timely availability of materials throughout the manufacturing process.
- Demand & Supply Strategy:
Conduct short-term and long-term demand reviews to support raw material planning, safety stock levels, and make-versus-buy decisions across the product lifecycle.
- Material Planning & System Integration:
Analyze material requirements and load the master production schedule into the I2I system and planning tools. Account for constraints in material, manpower, and machine capacity. Establish target inventory levels for raw materials, subassemblies, and finished goods.
- Performance Monitoring:
Generate and present regular reports on operations and service production metrics. Analyze KPIs, identify trends or issues and recommend corrective actions to enhance schedule adherence and overall performance.
- Data Integrity & Inventory Analysis:
Ensure accuracy of system data for planned items within the master production schedule. Perform inventory and consumption analysis to optimize safety stock levels and support divisional inventory goals.
- Site-wide Scheduling:
Develop and maintain a level-loaded, rolling 26-week master production schedule for both manufacturing sites within the division.
- Compliance & Training:
Maintain trained status and ensure adherence to all relevant aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
General Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5-10 years of master production scheduling and capacity planning experience in a high-volume metals or comparable manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems and production/inventory management. APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience creating and delivering presentations to executive leadership.
- Strong background in production, inventory, capacity, and resource planning.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and organizational levels.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Analytical & Organizational Abilities:
- Proactive problem-solver with strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within established timelines.
Language Skills:
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
