Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our Retail Studio in Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and will collaborate with other professionals on retail mixed-use projects. We are looking for a creative, organized, motivated individual who is a self-starter and can work both independently and as part of a team. The candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent presentation and documentation abilities. The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of building and accessibility codes/standards and be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously on various projects. The candidate should have an interest in developing project management skills and have the ability to effectively collaborate with consultants, contractors, and clients.

Role accountabilities:

• Partners with the studio manager or lead designer to establish a planning and design vision.
• Collaborating closely with team and senior staff supporting the design and technical tasks
• Communicates openly, embrace mentorship, and nurture the next generation of designers
• Managing and mentoring junior staff
• Proactive decision-making in selecting appropriate methods and standards for executing the work from the proposal stage through all project phases
• Coordinating project design, and management with both internal and external stakeholders while ensuring quality control and project execution
• Resolving design and technical issues within the project scope and escalate as needed to ensure project objectives are met

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture
• Professional licensure preferred
• 8-10+ years of experience, with a strong background in mixed-use project
• Advanced master-planning and building planning skills
• Ability to advance a design through all project phases - from concept to detail development
• Experience designing domestic and international, large scale mixed-use projects with a focus of expertise on Residential, Retail, Hotel and Offices
• Understanding of market trends of these sectors and ability to tailor designs to client's business objectives
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Korean speaking is a plus.
• Advanced skills in 3D program (Sketchup, Rhino, Enscape), AutoCad, Revit, InDesign
• Hand sketch capability is a plus
• Capabilities in parametric and advanced computational design is valued.
• Desire to drive a culture of design excellence at the office level as well as regionally and globally within the practice

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $109,186- $185,616.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
