Job Description
- Provide legal counsel and representation on complex intellectual property matters, particularly in the technology and engineering sectors.
- Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements, including licensing, joint ventures, and technology transfer agreements.
- Conduct patent prosecution, including drafting and filing patent applications.
- Advise clients on IP strategy, including portfolio management and risk assessment.
- Assist in litigation matters involving intellectual property disputes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address client needs effectively.
- Stay updated on changes in IP law and provide insights to clients and team members.
- Support business development initiatives within the legal department.
The Successful Applicant
A successful candidate should have:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility for admission.
- 2-4 years of experience in patent and/or trade‑secret litigation.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills; ability to work independently.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with initiative, drive, and a strong work ethic.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a similar technical field (preferred, not required).
- Excellent academic credentials; admission to the Bar in the office's state required.
