Shipping Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Shipping Specialist to join our team. This role operates Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm, with optional overtime available during mornings, evenings, and weekends. The primary responsibility is to package and ship products efficiently, managing a high volume of approximately 100 shipments daily. This position requires physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working with UPS and our internal database.

Responsibilities

• Unpack incoming items, verify goods received against purchase orders or invoices, and maintain records, rejecting unsatisfactory items as necessary.
• Prepare and maintain records of merchandise shipped, post weights and shipping charges, and prepare goods for final shipment.
• Count and pack products in boxes, cartons, or other containers, ensuring all components listed in packing lists are included.
• Assemble boxes and cartons, prepare special or non-standard packs, and follow instructions for correct packaging.
• Apply correct labels, stamps, and secure packages with specified closures.
• Assist in training entry-level employees.
• Process inputs for receipts and shipments in the ERP system.
• Maintain dock security.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in shipping or receiving within a materials/warehouse environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong component identification skills and ability to follow the approved vendor’s list (AVL) within our system.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• Forklift experience is a plus but not required.
• Experience with FedEx is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is based in a clean, fast-paced manufacturing facility certified with AS9100 standards. This position involves working on military and government projects, some of which require top-secret clearance and ITAR compliance. The facility is committed to maintaining a secure and efficient operation, ensuring all personnel can obtain the necessary clearances.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SANTA ANA, CA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
