Product Manager, Vehicle

Waymo’s Product Management Team is a mission-driven team responsible for writing and enacting first-of-their-kind playbooks to bring fully autonomous driving technology to market. Our team develops simple solutions for complex problems by orchestrating cross-functional efforts to safely drive Waymo’s technology and the products it enables forward. We do this by understanding the customer, the business, and the technology. We are humble about the scope of our work, collaborative in our approach to problem-solving, and ambitious about our vision for the future.
This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to the Manager of Product Management.
You will:
- Manage 1-2 vehicle programs as the Lead Vehicle Product Manager
- Author Product vision and requirement documents (PRDs) and develop strategic vehicle content recommendations
- Analyze vehicle trade-offs based on data, insights and trends
- Evaluate and execute change request for the active fleet with quick turnaround times
- Work with Engineering, Industrial Design and Operations to execute vehicle features and attributes throughout the development cycle. This requires leading large cross functional teams (w/ 20+ stakeholders)
- Represent Product Management in external meetings, interact with OEMs and suppliers
You have:
- Undergrad degree in Engineering or Business
- Automotive industry experience - 5 years or more (Engineering, Product or Program Management)
- Strong customer and fleet operations advocate
- Strategic and analytical skills. Ability to gather and analyze large quantities of information, and turn them into a thoughtful and compelling product vision, and detailed requirements in Product Requirement Documents (PRDs)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, experience in leading large cross-functional teams (w/ 20+ stakeholders)
- Flourish in ambiguity, good at problem stating and problem solving, and effectively delivering to them in a fast-changing environment
We prefer:
- 3+ years of product management experience
- Automotive vehicle development background
- Masters degree - MBA or Engineering
Travel requirements :
- Up to 30% of capacity, domestic and international
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
Salary Range
$204,000 - $252,000 USD
