WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Accounts Receivable functions o f this position are to e nsure operational accuracy and efficiency through processing and monitoring incoming payment s received through multiple forms of receipt . The Accounts Payable functions of this position are to ensure payments are paid in an efficient and timely manner by processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices, monitoring expenses, and keeping a record of it all for tax purposes . The General Ledger functions of this position are to prepare journal entries and r econcile various accounts to ensure the accuracy of financial statements . Knowledge of GAAP, Public and Private funding, intra -company relationships. The position requires a combination of 2+ years’ experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger, preferably in the Non-Profit Sector , to ensure that the organization continues to grow while maintaining financial stability . This role will assist in administrative and clerical functions of the finance department . The Project Accountant will work with various teams within the Agency . This position supports all functions within the Fi nance Team .

This is a TEMPORARY position for 3 months with the possibility to extend. This is a part-time position. This role is NOT eligible for benefits.

Your responsibilities:


  • Recording deposits through the bank’s electronic system of cash, check, and credit card payment receipts.

  • Process various forms of donations including credit cards, checks and stock.

  • Reconciliation of donor database to the GL.

  • Reconciliation of public funding contracts and receipts to GL.

  • Coordination of monthly reconciliation with Development and Grants departments.

  • Enter accurate vendor, client, and employee payment info into accounting system.

  • Reconcile vendor statements.

  • Prepare on time payments to payees.

  • Cash Forecast updates weekly.

  • Upload Concur batch processes to MIP.

  • Reconcile Amazon orders and purchases, gift card, and corporate credit cards account.

  • Preparation of Journal Entries.

  • Reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts and bank statements.

  • Assist with regulatory filings and the month end closing process.

  • Assist in various audits including financial Single Audit, federal and local funding audits.

  • Create desk operating procedures for all General Accounting Functions.

  • Run reports: monthly and ad hoc reports as requested by CFO , and Controller.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE:


  • You have 2+ years of progressive accounting experience.

  • You have excellent follow-through skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • You have experience with non-profit experience with MIP accounting software/paycom.

  • You have exceptional organizational skills with reliability and consistency in work performance.

  • You are flexible with a collaborator mentality.

  • You have a focus on good judgment with an initiative-taking approach to problem-solving.

  • You have the ability to multi-task with the capability to learn quickly and integrate efficiently

  • You are passionate about the Larkin Street Youth Services mission to end youth homelessness.

  • You have several years of progressive accounting experience.

  • You are a self-starter and team player. Your colleagues describe you as customer service oriented, collaborative, and with a high attention to detail.

  • You work best in a hybrid working environment, primarily in person with some flexibility to work-from-home.
