Are you an accounting pro who thrives on accuracy, organization, and teamwork? We’re looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support both corporate-wide accounting operations and administrative functions within our Finance team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining internal controls, supporting financial systems, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting. If you're passionate about accounting, love creating structure, and enjoy solving financial puzzles — this role could be the perfect fit. This is a full-time, non-exempt senior support position based at our headquarters in Modesto, CA with a hybrid work schedule.
What you’ll be doing:
- Prepare and reconcile General Ledger accounts and bank statements during monthly close
- Manage the Concur travel and expense platform, ensuring effective system usage, and provide training to new and existing staff on expense reporting and related accounting procedures
- Prepare and review VISA reconciliations, ensuring all receipts, approvals, and expense justifications comply with ABC’s Internal Control Policy
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and conduct annual inventory
- Prepare international and domestic wire transfers and ensure accurate recording in both the accounting system and bank records
- Support internal, external, and compliance audits through document preparation and retrieval
- Maintain and reconcile petty cash accounts
- Post all cash receipts, maintain accounts receivable records and databases, and ensure payment compliance in accordance with the Federal Marketing Order
- Oversee document retention and disposal in compliance with USDA regulations
- Support insurance policy coordination and maintain records and accountability of all ABC vehicles
- Manage administrative duties for Finance and Audit Committee meetings, including minutes, agenda, and materials
- Assist with budget coordination and analysis
Our ideal candidate requirements:
- AA/AS degree in accounting or business, with 5–7 years of related experience
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; ERP system and Concur experience preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and sound judgment
- A customer service mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
