Job Description and Duties

Under general direction of the CIO and the Deputy CIO (an Information Technology Manager II), incumbent holds supervisor responsibility for Workplace and Collaboration Services section in ITD. This includes leading and directing subordinate staff, and tasks such as planning, organization, staffing, and directing all functions within workplace and collaboration services to successfully achieve the section's objectives.

The Workplace and Collaboration Services section provides IT services related to workplace productivity and collaboration tools to the State Treasurer’s Office (STO) and the sixteen separate, quasi-independent boards, commissions, and authorities (BCAs) that organizationally report to the State Treasurer.

The Workplace and Collaboration Services Supervisor is responsible for managing the delivery of a range of IT services related to workplace productivity and collaboration tools. This role ensures efficient and effective IT service desk operations and the management of various workplace technologies.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to three days of remote work per week. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience: The ideal candidate should have experience in managerial/supervisory role leading and managing a team of workplace and collaboration services staff, including IT service desk staff, and must have a proven track record of delivering Microsoft 365 productivity and collaboration services.
  • Technical expertise: The candidate must have current or p ast experience implementing Microsoft 365 services in a large organization. Cu rrent experience in Windows 10/11, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Platform, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Purview is mandatory.
  • Project management skills: The ideal candidate should have strong project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams, create and manage project schedules, allocate resources effectively, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Communication skills: Effective communication is crucial in this role. The candidate should be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills: The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, motivate and inspire team members.
  • Strategic thinking: The successful candidate should be able to think strategically, plan for the future, and guide the team towards the long-term goals of the organization.
  • Continuous learning: Cloud technologies are evolving rapidly, and a successful candidate must have a mindset of continuous learning and a willingness to adapt to changing technologies and trends.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification in your application packet. Official sealed transcripts or your original diploma (with embossed seal) will be required prior to appointment. If it is determined that a candidate does not meet all Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the classification. All candidates who are determined to not meet the Minimum Qualifications will be contacted in writing and will have 10 business days to respond with additional information supporting their Minimum Qualifications for the classification. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
