Caterpillar Inc. seeks Autonomy Engineer at its facility located at 1245 Folsom St, San Francisco, California 94103. Develop algorithms that enable autonomous systems to understand and navigate safely. Take real-world problems, turn it into well-defined projects, survey and select the right approach, develop quick prototypes, and bring it to production. Join an agile software team that runs with the typical agile framework of daily stand ups, weekly retrospective, and backlog maintenance. Interact with the architects of the planning domain and seek technical guidance from our Technology Strategist. Run code through CI / CD and show the results. REQS : This position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics or a related field and 1 year of experience in robotics or autonomy position or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with : (1) C++, Python & MATLAB to execute planning algorithms; (2) Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence including planning learning techniques such as reinforcement learning; (3) Frameworks such as TensorFlow & PyTorch; (4) Calculus, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations to solve motion planning problems; (5) Algorithm development and motion planning techniques such as trajectory optimization, Search-based planning, & model predictive control. Telecommuting : 2 days / week.
